Throughout history, God has sent to humanity a series of divine Educators — known as Manifestations of God — whose teachings have provided the basis for the advancement of civilization.

These Manifestations have included Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muḥammad. Bahá’u’lláh, the latest of these Messengers, explained that the religions of the world come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from God.

In a world struggling to establish peaceful co-existence among diverse peoples, Bahá’u’lláh challenged humanity to reject division and embrace a unifying vision of the future of society. Bahá’u’lláh's vision for the future of humanity centers around the oneness of the planet, the unity of all peoples and nations, and a just and lasting global peace. Such a vision unfolds in Bahá’u’lláh's Writings, for instance, in passages such as these:

"So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth. Exert yourselves that ye may attain this transcendent and most sublime station, the station that can ensure the protection and security of all mankind."

Bahá’ís believe in the crucial need facing humanity to work towards this collective, unifying vision and welcome all to labour alongside them in this undertaking.

In thousands upon thousands of locations around the world, the teachings of the Bahá’í Faith inspire individuals and communities as they work to improve their own lives and contribute to the advancement of civilization. Bahá’í beliefs address such essential themes as:

  • The oneness of God & religion

  • The progressive revelation of religious truth

  • The fundamental equality of the sexes

  • The harmony between science & religion

  • The oneness of humanity & freedom from prejudice

  • The development of spiritual qualities

  • The importance of education

  • The integration of worship & service

  • The centrality of justice in all human endeavours

  • The inherent nobility of the human being

  • The relationships that bind individuals, communities and institutions as humanity advances towards its collective maturity
